About Youth Signals
The four piece, psych-dream-pop outfit, Youth Signals, will release their debut EP, 1997, on October 15th. The three track EP spans a sonic landscape of nostalgia and darkness, guided by Bowie-esque vocals and a lush guitar topography. Hey You, the featured track, pays homage to an aural, 90’s, pop, dreamscape of youth and vulnerability.
The EP was recorded live at Seaside Lounge in Brooklyn, who’ve recorded, mixed, and mastered The National, The New Pornographers, Neko Case, Okkervil River, Parquet Courts and now, Youth Signals.
Lead singer/songwriter, Brock Bodell and lead guitarist, Dan Ashley assembled the third iteration of this Brooklyn (by way of Tennessee/Massachusetts/Kansas) outfit in early 2014. Sounds spanning from mid 70’s Pink Floyd, to early 90’s Pavement - they straddle the line between accessible pop tunes and moody musical terrains with post-rock sensibilities. Bodell, a Brooklyn-based writer/videographer left the music world in 2005. Eight years later he found himself at the ripe age of thirty back in the clutches of rock and roll. Ashley played for years in several experimental/noise collectives, while drummer and Kansas native, Josh Lambert, backed bands throughout the oughts. Bass player, Zak Engel, has penned many scores for critically acclaimed films, plays, and web series.
