UMFANG was born in the Bronx, grew up in Kansas and is currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Her first introduction to party music was the underground rave scene in Kansas City. She is a resident DJ at Bossa Nova Civic Club and runs the monthly party Technofeminism, which has been met with acclaim and much support. She’s played alongside Kim Ann Foxman, opened Zara Wladawsky & Aurora Halal’s festival Sustain Release in its inaugural year, played at NYC's high-profile venues Panther Room, Le Bain, and MoMA PS1, and is a founder of the NYC-based collective DISCWOMAN supporting female DJs. UMFANG is one of the leading women in the rapidly growing New York City techno scene and her debut releases came out on videogamemusic and 1080p in 2015.
