Members of Arcade Fire & The National Sync Sound & Film in "Wave Movements"

Richard Reed Parry and Bryce Dessner's new collaborative work "Wave Movements" takes inspiration from the wave cycles of the world's oceans. Parry and Dessner are both indie rock royalty -- they're best known as members of Arcade Fire and The National, respectively -- who also share a history in experimental art. What the two composers have created together is a piece for chamber orchestra that's composed directly to the actual rhythms of waves, performed in sync with a film made by Hiroshi Sugimoto. This renowned Japanese photographer earned acclaim for creating an iconic series of seascapes in the 1980s. Also on the program is Thomas Adès' imaginative "Chamber Symphony", one of the contemporary British composer's earliest works.
