About WAR

WAR: Classic Funk Band Comes to New York

Fusing funk, rock, Latin rhythms and R&B, the supergroup WAR transcended racial and cultural barriers, all while producing uplifting music. Founded in Long Beach, the band has been through several changes over the years from the original version with Eric Burdon and their massive 70s popularity, to a resurgence after being sampled by hip-hop producers and today's enduring lineup with original member Lonnie Jordan. They're a staple of classic rock radio, but you've heard a number of WAR's hits in famed TV shows and movies too -- "Low Rider" in Cheech & Chong's "Up in Smoke", "Spill the Wine" in "Boogie Nights" and "War," the subject of a classic "Seinfeld" episode. Don't miss their famed live show at B.B. King's in New York.
