About Vundabar, Baked, Such Hounds, Slight
Boston's Vundabar delivers sardonic wit through sophisticatedly crafted jangle-pop songs - the result of which is pure rock gold. With song titles such as "Oulala," "Holy Toledo," and "Smile Boyo," Vundabar does a good job at not taking themselves too seriously, but despite what some whimsical titles may suggest, their songs are more profound than they may appear.
There's somewhat of a paradox inherent in Vundabar's songwriting - a conflicting sense of nostalgia contrasted with the realization that they couldn't sound more current. The music they make feels like something that should have been heard a long time ago, while simultaneously continuing to forge ahead sonically.
Vundabar's high energy live show is the stand out quality of this band and is an art they've undoubtedly perfected by touring non-stop around the country. Vundabar's shows never fail to be captivating, complete with infectious jams, guitar moves galore, intricate drum work, and humorous stage banter to top it all off, the band has become known for putting on an entertaining show.
Baked is a 5-piece psych / indie rock band from Brooklyn consisting of R.J. Gordon (vocals, guitar), Davey Jones (guitar), Jeremy Aquilino (bass guitar, vocals), Isabella Mingione (snyth, vocals) and Yoni David (drums). Founding members play in both Leapling and Lost Boy ? Baked was born in 2012 shortly after members of the band opened Big Snow Buffalo Lodge. ?
Baked released their self titled EP in July of 2013. The EP was re-released by Forged Artifacts in March of 2014. Their debut LP, Debt, was released August 19, 2014 on Exploding in Sound Records.
There comes a point in life when being young, broke and on your own seeps into normality. History is all you have connecting you with the past and the road ahead is full of holes so you hang on to the sights in the rear-view, the nights when things felt alright and the days when you cared just a little bit more. Such Hounds know this all too well and they stamp their own vulnerability and desolation over the songs they write, recalling the same young-and-stoned-and-empty feelings. Some say it sounds like Tom Petty snorkeling in bong water, but maybe it's Tom Petty snorkeling in Budweiser, it really depends on the song. Like Petty, Such Hounds show a dedication to crafted, catchy songwriting propelled by the pursuit of a better time and a "fuck the world" attitude to getting older.
Brooklyn based garage-pop from members of LVL UP, Morrison Brook, and Cottage Jefferson. Trio with fuzzy anti-ballads for soft souls.
