About Vishnu Basement, Night Auditor, Liberty Zoo, Whitman, SATO
Vishnu Basement is a four-piece group that, similarly to Tera Melos and Don Caballero, uses multi-faceted sonic textures to create music that is “powerful and yet delightfully articulate, mixing heavy rhythms with airy retreats”. The band was formed in early 2012 by lead singer and guitarist Max Goldstein, guitarist Sam Fritschel, bassist Ben Parra, and drummer Sam Judkis
Night Auditor is an experimental pop band in the midwest fronted by poet/composer Hilal Omar Al Jamal. They sound like Prince & The Pixies.
Liberty Zoo is an eclectic, funk-pop band made up of five musicians. Their music is composed of looped vocals, tap dancing, rap, groovy guitar riffs, synth magic, and funky flute licks. Liberty Zoo is establishing itself as a rising band in New York, having opened for such artists as Alex Calder and most recently Big Sean at Columbia University’s Bacchanal festival. They will be releasing their debut EP in the fall and will be playing shows around the city all summer. See them live to fully appreciate their fun and exuberant energy.
Filled with drunkenness, long nights and debauchery; Whitman's Weekends is precisely reminiscent of what its title suggests, a whole lot of fun.
Good times are not a new concept for the veteran Austin rock band. Since their formation, Whitman has been doing everything their own way and having a hell of a good time in the process. Since 2003, two friends, Ram Vela (vocals/guitar) and Kyle Johnson (keys/guitar), have developed a knack for crafting heart-on-the-sleeve rock songs that tell vivid stories of their experiences; growing up in small Texas towns, living in Austin, and traveling the country.
Eventually Vela and Johnson teamed up with Eric Jenne (drums) and Micajah Nye (bass) to create a lineup that embodies the bands' songwriting values of honesty, dedication and hope. Since their inception, the band has self-booked multiple tours and had the privilege of opening for many great bands (including Titus Andronicus, The Walkmen, GIVERS, Third Eye Blind and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears) with their always exciting and raucous live shows.
Weekends was recorded by Whitman, produced and mixed by David Dreesen, and Mastered by Bob Weston (The Pixies, Nirvana, Sebadoh)and will be released on Sonora Records on April 17, 2012.
Weekends is available on CD/LP/MP3, get your copy at the show or at www.whitman.bandcamp.com
