Vocalist, guitarist, composer and Brazilian music legends Dori Caymmi and
Joyce Moreno join the premier NYC-based Brazilian music ensemble, Trio Da
Paz (guitarist Romero Lubambo, bassist Nilson Matta, and drummer Duduka da
Fonseca). Produced by Pat Philips, Stratta Philips Productions.

Joyce Moreno, known simply as Joyce, is a second generation Bossa Nova
vocalist and composer mentored by Antonio Carlos Jobim, and grew up
listening to Joao Gilberto. One of Joyce’s hit songs, “Essa Muhler,” was
recorded by the great Ellis Regina. Others including “Feminina” and
“Mesterios” combined the jazz influences of Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra,
Dave Brubeck, and The Modern Jazz Quartet with the sounds of her
contemporary Brazilian partners, Marcos Valle, Edo Lobos, and Joao Donato.

Dori Caymmi, son of one of Brazil’s most important Composers, Dorival
Caymmi, has become one of Brazil’s most popular composer/arranger/vocalists
with many award-winning songs to his credit including, “Saudade de Amar,”
which won the first of several Grammy® Awards. Dori has performed with
Antonio Carlos Jobim, Quincy Jones, Dionne Warwick, Gilberto Gil, Sarah
Vaughan, and Ivan Lins at the world’s greatest venues including Carnegie
Hall and The Hollywood Bowl.

Before coming together to form one of the premier Brazilian ensembles in
jazz, the members of Trio da Paz travelled in far and wide musical circles:
Guitarist Romero Lubambo played with Diane Reeves, Michael Brecker, Grover
Washington Jr., and Kathleen Battle; Bassist Nilson Matta performed with
Joe Henderson, Don Pullen, Yo-Yo Ma, and Paul Winter; and drummer Duduka da
Fonseca played with Antonio Carlos Jobim, John Scofield, Tom Harrell, and
more.



Dori Caymmi

Rooted in Bossa Nova and Brazillian , but with a sound all his own, multi Grammy-winning jazz musician Dori Caymmi has celebrated a career of prosperity and recognition. Following the path laid by his father and namesake, legendary Brazilian musician, Dorival Caymmi, Dori has created a style of music and a list of credits for which any musician would covet. Dori’s modern approach to a classic sound results in a stimulating blend of, Jazz, Pop, and Brazilian influences, which confidently continues the musical tradition of the Caymmi Family. Dori was born in 1943 in Rio de Janeiro to distinguished vocalist, Stella Maris.

Studying music as early as 8, it was no surprise that Caymmi followed in his parents’ footsteps to success – ultimately going on to write, arrange, and perform with renowned musicians amongst the likes of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Quincy Jones, Dionne Warwick, Gilberto Gil, and Sarah Vaughan. Dori’s musical endeavors have been recorded on numerous major label recordings, provided the soundtrack for a number of plays, and appeared as the musical score for television shows and films.

With 13 solo albums to his credit, Dori Caymmi has secured his place as a staple in the world of Brazilian Jazz, recognized through 2 Latin Grammys and 7 Grammy nominations. Dori has performed his music at countless esteemed venues throughout Brazil, in the United States at theaters such as Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, and in many of the large-scale European music events such as the Montreux Jazz Festival. No stranger to the television screen, Dori has made several television appearances in Brazil and beyond, even finding himself directing Branford Marsalis’ band on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show.

Dori’s efforts have been continually heralded, and in April 2010 he was honored with the historic medal -Comenda Tiradentes, the highest honor granted by the Legislature of Minas Gerais for his cultural contribution to the state. Immediately following, the Brazilian government bestowed Dori with the Ordem do Rio Branco, a medal celebrating his efforts to spread Brazilian music and culture around the world. The accolades have most recently continued with Dori’s 2009 album, Inner World, being nominated for two Latin Grammys under the categories of ‘Best Brazilian Song’ and ‘Best Brazilian MPB Album.’ Last year, Dori released his latest album, Poesia Musicada, a commemoration of his father’s memory, as well as 42 years with writing partner, Paulo Cesar Pinheiro.

With the blood of over 100 years of Brazilian musical history flowing through his veins, Dori Caymmi’s works and performances stand to represent the musical voice of Brazil. Experienced and dedicated, Caymmi continues to collaborate, produce and perform his music with the same passion that has marked his entire career.
