About "Trapper"

Celebrity Journalist Must Choose Between Loyalty or Career in "Trapper"

While female hysteria doesn't get quite the bad rap it used to, it certainly still pops up today in the form of statements like "Stop being so emotional" and "You're overreacting." Playwright Meghan E. Jones was interested in the subject, so she looked at interviews conducted across an ethnically and economically diverse cross-section of New York City and came up with "Trapper", the story of 27-year-old celebrity journalist Jillian who escapes her job to a mental hospital and befriends her roommate, the troubled starlet Jackie Batiste, who's checked into the hospital incognito. When Jillian returns to work at the celebrity gossip website Trapper, she'll have to make some tough choices between loyalty or career, substance or smear. The Shelter continues its seventh season at 4th Street Theatre with an examination of what passes for sanity in a world where pop scandals and cruel obsessions are the order of the day.
