TimesTalks Presents Bill T. Jones and Marc Bamuthi Joseph in Conversation With Touré

When journalist and MSNBC host Touré moderates a TimesTalks conversation with internationally renowned artistic director Bill T. Jones and playwright Marc Bamuthi Joseph, who knows what path the discourse will take? After all, Jones, a Tony Award-winning National Medal of Arts recipient, has worn many hats, including dancer, choreographer, artist and writer. His storied career alone could inspire an entire event. Likewise, Broadway veteran Joseph has earned acclaim as an interdisciplinary artist who's spouted spoken-word poetry, directed hip-hop theater, penned plays and works as an arts activist and educator. The scope of all three men's work is so broad, they could really talk for days. It's a safe bet to assume you'll get an earful of their well-informed perspectives on the arts, culture and contemporary racial politics -- after all, Touré is the author of "Who's Afraid of Post-Blackness? What It Means To Be Black Now." The TimesTalks event will also include a performance from Joseph's music-filled dance and spoken word piece "Black Joy in the Hour of Chaos." This meeting of the minds takes place at New York cultural hub MIST Theater.
