About Three Thousand Rivers

TTR started small. in 2013, Noam was teaching third grade in New Orleans and writing songs on his guitar at night. He moved to New York, grabbed his grainy recordings, called up Hanna and Róisín for violin and additional vocals, and together they started a small, folksy trio.

The three of them played small shows around the city, and as more members were added over the coming months, their sound slowly shifted. Nick joined in on drums, and the sound shifted more towards rock; Jack danced over with his sax and pushed the group in a funkier direction, but balanced it out with some banjo on the side; Warren finally showed up with his bass and killer backup vocals, cementing the rhythm section, patching up holes, and filling out the sound. Róisín and Hanna eventually moved on, but TTR was lucky enough to find Joshua and Zoe, who have given them a bigger and better sound to corral.

TTR is influenced by folk, americana, funk, and rock (particularly Neutral Milk Hotel, The Mountain Goats, Jack White, and the Dodos), and the members' diverse musical backgrounds, including Balinese, West African, and South Indian drumming, modern classical music, funk, and jazz. Each member plays several instruments, bringing something entirely different to the mix. The result is a unique blend of sounds and influences (and sometimes two or three drummers on the same set).

TTR is Noam Hassenfeld, Nick Demirjian, Jack Cashion, Warren Loegering, Joshua Lutz, and Zoe Aqua. They have performed at venues across the city, including Mercury Lounge, The Living Room, Arlene's Grocery, Pianos, The Bowery Electric, and more. They are also part of "Reade St. Music," a New York City music collective which includes The Downbeat Keys and Blue and Gold as well as TTR. Three Thousand Rivers released their debut EP, "Like a What?" on February 14, 2015 through Kake Multimedia. They are currently in the studio recording their follow up record, due out Summer 2015.
