About The Thomas Bergeron Ensemble

Thomas Bergeron - trumpet and flugelhorn
Jason Ennis - guitars
Vitor Gonçalves - accordion and piano
Michael Bates - acoustic bass
David Palazola - percussion

The natural extension of his debut jazz chamber music album inspired by Debussy, Thomas Bergeron's forthcoming follow-up album Sacred Feast takes inspiration from the early compositions Olivier Messiaen. The brilliant vocalist/songwriter Becca Stevens joins the group for Thomas' arrangement of Messiaen's three-part song cycle "Trois Mélodies". Messiaen wrote the cycle for his mother, the poet Cécile Sauvage, shortly after her passing. Most of the surrealist text is Messiaen's own, but the beautiful middle movement's paints Sauvage's own poem "Le sourire" (The Smile).
