The Sweater Songs

What started out as a fun idea to mix up their regular original music sets has now turned into a huge event with every show bringing out more and more fans. The Sweater Songs perform early Weezer albums in their entirety such as iconic classics “The Blue Album” and “Pinkerton” which include songs like “Buddy Holly”, “Say It Ain’t So”, “El Scorcho”, “The Good Life” and of course their namesake “Undone/Sweater Song.”

The band is made up of five life-long musicians who are all extremely active in the New York City music scene. Wes Hutchinson, Oscar Albis Rodriguez, Dan Logan, Gunnar Olsen and Robert Cooper have been playing, writing and recording original music for almost ten years but they have all agreed that The Sweater Songs is possibly the most fun they could ever have in an evening.

The Sweater Songs pay homage to the “Buddy Holly” video (as well as geek rock in general) by wearing cardigans, collared shirts, ties and those classic thick-rimmed glasses—which they’ve been known to hand out at their shows as well. They’ve sold out several venues in New York City (which is no easy feat) and are now playing bigger venues to crowds of 600-1000 people. “We actually have legitimate, loyal fans” says guitarist/singer Wes Hutchinson “it’s the coolest thing to look out and see a massive crowd of people singing along to every song with us. Apparently we’re not the only ones who like Weezer.”

The band continues to add momentum with more shows and demand coming in every week. Spend an evening with The Sweater Songs and you’ll see why so many fans adore this band—and don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing “Ooooweeeeeooo I look just like Buddy Holly!” for days after.
