About The Shades, East Love

THE SHADES

Based out of Chicago, The Shades create a signature sound that stems from branches of rock and pop, with outgrowths in folk, soul and R&B. The group's major inspirations are 60s and 70s rock and soul artists, and their first on-stage experiences together featured heavy doses of the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Ray Charles. Of all the things that make the group unique, The Shades pride themselves most on singing in close, three-part harmony every chance they get. All three members sing, play, and write their own music. Through their impressive arrangements and harmonies, they've developed a live act that is appealing to all ages, and consistently bring a fresh, hip sound to the songs of generations past and present. Since 2013, they've graced a wide variety of Chicago's stages including the House of Blues, Evanston SPACE, Mayne Stage, Uncommon Ground, Cubby Bear, the Elbo Room, and many, many more.

East Love features New York City musicians Robbie Fink, Lukas Effman, Alex Goldstein, Alex Utay, David Berliner, and Andy Koehler. This East Village-based acoustic pop-rock band has three members who have played together since their days at Scarsdale High School. The band, currently recording a 6 song EP, has recently released their first two singles "Little Less" and "Straight Lines" available on iTunes, Spotify & SoundCloud. East Love plays venues all across NYC, including the Gramercy Theatre, Webster Hall, and more. Check out their unique arrangements and vocals on both original songs and some favorite covers.
