About The O'Jays and Friends

'70s Soul Bands The O'Jays and Harold Melvin's Blue Notes Perform With R&B Singer Glen Jones

Members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The O'Jays qualify as a true American treasure. After recording 24 top 10 records and charting an astonishing 59 hit singles, including legendary tracks like "Back Stabbers," "For The Love Of Money," and "Darlin' Darlin' Baby," the group could have gone on to a well-deserved retirement. But slowing down is not in the cards for Eddie Levert, Sr., Walter Williams, Sr. and Eric Nolan Grant. Like a fine wine, this seminal soul trio keeps getting better with age, their harmonies -- and steps -- as smooth as ever. Performing with The O'Jays are Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, one of the most popular Philadelphia soul groups of the '70s. The band's hits include "If You Don't Know Me By Now" (covered in the '80s by pop group Simply Red), "Don't Leave Me This Way" (which became a disco anthem when covered by Thelma Houston) and "Wake Up Everybody" (covered by John Legend). Special guest Glen Jones, a commanding R&B and gospel singer, will also perform at this spectacular concert at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn.
