About "The Music of Vaughan Williams"

"The Music of Vaughan Williams", Presented by DCINY at Carnegie Hall

English composer Vaughan Williams was a late bloomer -- he didn't publish his first piece of music until he was 30, and it was a couple years later that he became enamored with English folk songs and began to travel the countryside, transcribing melodies and saving them from extinction. Many of these melodies were later incorporated into his works. DCINY presents this concert featuring the music of Williams, whose works have continued to be a staple of the British classical repertoire. Former director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Craig Jessop conducts the Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Distinguished Concerts Singers International in Williams' "Sancta Civitas", and Dr. Nina Nash Robertson leads Williams' "Dona Nobis Pacem".
