About "The Music of Karl Jenkins"

"The Music of Karl Jenkins": A Concert for Peace

A trio of emotionally stirring pieces by DCINY composer-in-residence Karl Jenkins comes to Carnegie Hall, courtesy of Distinguished Concerts International Singers and Orchestra. Jenkins, who hails from Wales, started out as a jazz musician, playing with prog-rock pioneers Soft Machine, one of the most influential underground U.K. bands of the '70s, before moving on to composing contemporary classical works. Now, DCINY artistic director and principal conductor Jonathan Griffith leads this collection of acclaimed musicians and vocalists in "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, Songs of Sanctuary" and "Te Deum", which is also set to feature the Pennsbury High School Concert and Community Choirs.
