About The Mona Dahls

In 2007 Songstress Orly Bendavid met Daniella Fischetti (Violin, Mandolin) in her almost cubicle over a cup her incredibly awesome coffee making skills. Orly discovered and even more awesome simpatico with her as a Violinist and co-writer. Together they formed The Mona Dahls with Robin Mitchell (Piano, Vocals, Melodica), Kevin Hummel (Bass, Vocals ), and Andrew Fleming (Drums). The Mona Dahls are: Orly Bendavid’s tender, emotional vocal melodies, neatly composed folk chords, rootsy grooves, and bluesy riffs. Daniella Fischetti’s heart wrenching sweeping violin aria’s. Robin Mitchell’s poignant, creative, and sensitive piano constructions. Kevin Hummel’s incredible ability to play the bass as both a complicated rhythmic and melodic instrument. And finally, Andrew Fleming’s talented, dynamic percussion skills.

The Mona Dahls knit the lyricism of the violin in conversation with the tender and terse cadences of Bendavid’s own voice. At times upbeat and folksy, and other times absorbed in serious melody, they ground both plaintive and ebullient sounds alike in the rhythm of guitar, mandolin, and crashing bells. This pronounces a noise strangely earthly and cerebral all at once, yet above all, emotional. In 2013 The Mona Dahls began recording their first album with producer and engineer Anthony Krizan (The Spin Doctors, Lenny Kravitz). This untitled album will be released Spring 2014.
