About The Jauntee, Formula 5, Sprocket
Averaging over one hundred shows a year – The Jauntee has quickly made a name for themselves in the New England music scene. Hailing from Boston, they've solidified a dedicated following in the Northeast, playing most staple venues in the area (ie. Paradise Rock Club, Nectar's, The Spot Underground, Stone Church). Several New England festival appearances (ie. StrangeCreek, Camp Coldbrook, Disc Jam) and extensive touring down the East Coast and across the Midwest have given them Nationwide recognition, with sold out shows as far west as Denver, CO (Quixote's). A focus on live improvisation, set list variety, and musical exploration makes every show different from the last, truly making The Jauntee a live act to see again and again.
Drawing influence from a wide variety of bands, The Jauntee's improvisational landscape spans multiple genres, including: Funk/Rock/Jazz/Progressive/Bluegrass/Psychedelic and Ambient music. Their willingness to explore genres, abandon all song structure, and dive into 'the weird' sets them apart from your average upcoming Jam Band. They aim to push the boundaries of improvisation, embrace the moment and engage the audience. With an ever-expanding song catalog and an inclination for open ended improvisation, every show promises to be a unique experience.
Formula 5: A band that truly represents Upstate New York! With members ranging from Albany to Lake George, this 4-piece brings together its diverse influences to create a unique yet familiar jam sound that will make you want to move your feet. With an organic, funk filled sound rooted in the style of some of their jam band idols, Formula 5 brings an honest, classic approach to a genre that is becoming increasingly filled with progressive electronic artists. With thought-provoking and soulful lyrics, soaring melodies, and an emphasis on tight instrumentation and improvisation, this band brings a familiar freshness to the term “jam band”. In their short tenure as a band, they have shared the stage with regional/national acts such as Dopapod, Twiddle, Consider the Source, Aqueous, The Heavy Pets, The Brew, The McLovins, Turbine, and many others while winning over new fans at most of the regional stops in the northeast for original music. They have graced the stages of regional festivals such as Catskill Chill, The Big Up, Strange Creek, Wormtown, Backwoods Pondfest, Green Mountain Getdown (NH), Autamation Indoor Music Festival (Lake George) and many others. With their roots in jam, jazz, funk, blues, bluegrass, electronica and many others, this group is sure to satisfy whatever your taste in music while making it truly their own.
Sprocket was conceived in late 2011. The line-up began as a power-trio, adding piano to the line-up in late 2012. The band began writing and performing in earnest in 2013, releasing their first full album "Tropical Bushwick" in March 2013.
The band has been featured and reviewed on notable publications such as Jambase, Jambands, Dubera, SensibleReason, and TheBarnPresents...all of which can be found on the band's website, SprocketNYC.com The word has slowly been getting out about the NYC jam scene's best kept secret, as the quartet has grown to headline notable clubs such as The Knitting Factory, Webster Hall Studio, and the Mercury Lounge. The band had it's first out of town ventures in 2014 which was, surprisingly enough, hugely successful.
Work has begun organizing the bands sophomore album. Look for that and for Sprocket to begin appearing at festivals in 2015.
