About "The Girl From Ipanema"

Celebrating the Brazilian Jazz Classic "The Girl From Ipanema"

In 1962, Antonio Carlos Jobim wrote "The Girl From Ipanema," a sultry bossa nova song about a pretty girl from Rio that has since gone on to become one of the most recognized and recorded songs in history. On the 50th anniversary of the song's groundbreaking Grammy win, an ensemble made up of New York's top contemporary musicians will assemble at New York's Cafe Wha? to pay homage to the song and to Jobim's Brazilian jazz legacy. Vocalist Julie Eigenber (aka "Julie E.") will be joined by guitar master Andres Laprida, Itaiguara Brandao and Helio Schiavo in this one-of-a-kind event that celebrates the life and sounds of the iconic bossa nova composer.
