About The Falling Birds

Under the Manhattan Bridge amid the rumble of the Q train overhead and the sounds of impatient Mandarin, one can hear the sound of The Falling Birds cutting through the din. The New York quartet cultivates their sound in a shed atop a Lower East Side rooftop, and performs in clubs across the city, drawing inspiration from a half century’s worth of American music.

The Falling Birds consists of Stephen Artemis on guitar, vocals and harmonica, David Burton on percussion, and Nick Albury on bass and mandolin. Collectively, the band comes from a range of musical backgrounds and looks to put its own stamp on the history of rock and roll. Artemis leads the band with a guitar fed by years of punk, rock and roots music, and a knack for accessible songwriting about everyday experiences. His compositions are kicked into high gear by Burton’s spirited drumming and Albury’s bass lines.

Each musician is well versed in different styles ranging from speed metal, to Motown to bluegrass, and they’ve performed individually from Miami to Boston. The members of the Falling Birds harness their years of individual
experience into a versatile unit that accelerates from intricate acoustic arrangements to full throttle rock, sometimes in the same song.

The ‘Birds are focused on doing what they love; making meaningful music, connecting with fans, and bringing their unique sound to you.
