The Danbees Residency w/ Polar Planet, For Lack of a Term
About The Danbees Residency w/ Polar Planet, For Lack of a Term
The Danbees are an American rock & roll band based in New York City that was started by college classmates Mark Slotoroff (vocals/guitar) and Wade McManus (drums/vocals) in 2014. Upon graduating from Ithaca College, Mark called upon childhood friend Shane Matthews (lead guitar) to join the band while Wade reached out to longtime friend and previous band mate Sam Enright (bass).
The Danbees are straight up rock & roll. Categorized by their riff heavy songs and simplistic lyrics about faltered love stories or shitty girlfriends, they excel on stage with their live show. Whether it's excessive partying, band members rolling on the floor, or an impromptu drum solo, The Danbees have established themselves as rock & roll for the modern era.
Every musical career has twists, turns and unpredictability throughout. But, when two musicians on tour with two different bands meet by accident on a party boat in Austin, TX those musical paths would take them on one serendipitous journey. For singer/song-writer Eric Paquette and keyboardist Zack Cross, it took being re-introduced a year later to recollect that hazy day at SXSW under the beaming Texas sunshine. Neither could have predicted that they would form the entity soon to be known as Polar Planet a year later and that they would be opening for Panic! At The Disco and Atlas Genius in front of 5,000 people, without even having a single song released.
???Music doesn???t come alive unless you have the right architects to construct the sound. One thing that stands true throughout everyone???s musical background, there is no right or wrong way to approach music???, says Paquette.
With that goal in mind the two came together to create art in its purest form. Starting from Paquette???s skeletons of chords, both melodies and lyrics began to emerge and flow out like a rushing waterfall. It was instant chemistry. Soon after when Monte Arnstam hopped on drums, Reed Sutherland picked up the bass guitar, and Killian Karlsson slung on his Stratocaster, Polar Planet was fully formed.
Lush synthesizers, blistering leads, and heavy synth bass are just some of the textures that resonate throughout the songs of Polar Planet. Reminiscent of such scene 90???s alternative stalwarts as Third Eye Blind while channeling the indie-pop feel of both Bad Suns & Bear Hands, Polar Planet is poised to break out in 2016. Their first single will be heard soon and the ears that it hits will be gleaming with joy.
