About "The Crusade of Connor Stephens"

After a Tragedy, Texan Family Grapples With Grief in "The Crusade of Connor Stephens"

Connor Stephens was a troubled teen taken in and supported by the congregation of pastor Big Jim's Baptist mega-church in Texas. But when the boy goes on a shooting spree, killing Big Jim's granddaughter and wounding his gay son's husband before turning the gun on himself, the family's grieving process unearths decades of long buried ghosts, secrets and resentment. These issues come to a head on the day of the funeral for the murdered girl as Big Jim and his family have an explosive confrontation that touches on religion, tolerance and the seeds of hate. The winner of seven awards at the Midtown International Theater Festival, including Best Play, "The Crusade of Connor Stephens" is making its Broadway debut at the Jerry Orbach Theatre.
