About The Colleen Clark Collective ft. Rolando Morales-Matos
Colleen Clark is a multi-faceted musician, composer and teacher. Colleen's first album, (all tracks composed by Clark), "Introducing Colleen Clark" was debuted at NYC's "The Cutting Room." The album is produced by world class musician and composer, member of Percussive Arts Society's prestigious Hall of Fame, mentor and friend, Gordon Stout. The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by 10 time Grammy Award nominee/winner, Brian Dozoretz.
Clark has had the privilege of playing on some of New York's most celebrated stages including: Sounds of Brazil, Smoke Jazz Club, 92Y, The Iridium, Smalls Jazz Club and Birdland Jazz Club. She has also appeared live on the Fox News Network and at the Jazz Educator's Network Conference with headliner, Bria Skonberg featuring Wycliffe Gordon.
Clark has performed with artists including: Chuck Israels, Rolando Morales-Matos, Helen Sung, Gilad Hekselman, Bria Skonberg, Gordon Stout, Ted Piltzecker, Young-Joo Song, Sharel Cassity, Nir Namaan, Wycliffe Gordon, Ulysses Owens Jr., Glenn Zaleski, and many more.
Recently Clark was commissioned by Ithaca College to orchestrate her own, "Pyrotechnics" for Jazz Quartet and Concert Band. The premiere included Clark's band from New York, joining the Concert Band. Additionally, Millersville University commissioned Clark to write a new drum-set concerto for percussion ensemble, in which she played and premiered the piece at the college. In April 2015, Clark's new Concerto for Vibraphone will be premiered.
Clark has served on the faculty at Ithaca College, conducting Percussion Ensemble and teaching a full private studio. Colleen proudly works for the New York Pops Education Program, performing jazz master-classes to children in the Bronx. Clark is an avid supporter of the Percussive Arts Society and has been a clinician on their "Days of Percussion" in various locations. She is an alumni of SUNY Purchase where she received her master's degree and studied with John Riley.
Clark has been on multiple international tours in: Costa Rica, Czech Republic and Austria, playing drum-set and cajon. She finished a tour of Panama and Costa Rica in January 2014, where she premiered her first work for Wind Ensemble and Drum-set.
