About The BURN Quartet

BURN quartet is a modern jazz quartet that features original material composed by its members. Comprised of Nick Brust on saxophone, Tuomo Uusitalo on piano, James Robbins on bass, and Dan Nadeau on drums, the quartet seeks to push the boundaries of harmony and form as established by the great blue-note era jazz composers.

Since moving to New York in 2012, saxophonist Nick Brust has established his voice on the saxophone with an adventurous harmonic imagination and incisive, soulful sound. Over the past few years, he has found his niche as a bandleader and composer, forming multiple groups to explore the many moods present in jazz. Nick has performed and recorded with many highly acclaimed musicians in NYC including Gilad Hekselman. Nick recently released an EP, 'Brooklyn Folk Songs,' with the Nick Brust Quartet in January 2015. Brooklyn Folk Songs “showcases a set of original compositions that infuse
sturdy melodies with a rich, contemporary harmonic palette...like the borough for which it’s named - encompasses a variety of moods along with its own unique accent” (David Kastin).
