The Big Quiet – A Meditation in Central Park

About The Big Quiet – A Meditation in Central Park

Quiet. In New York City, it's the one thing even money can't buy. Join SummerStage and Medi Club on Saturday, June 20th as hundreds of New Yorkers converge for the first Big Quiet: an organic, practice-agnostic moment of meditation and calm for all ages and experience levels.

The philosophy behind The Big Quiet is that you don't need a guide to be in your own moment or a lifetime of practice to slow down and appreciate a beautiful day. You don't even need to be alone... you just need a little peace. We welcome your participation in this experiment to see if, even among a crowd of thousands, we can all find ourselves in shared silence.

For thirty New York minutes we'll ask you to join in by muting your cell phone, turning off your screens, standing or sitting in stillness and savoring a stadium of silent community in the heart of Central Park. Admission is free and bleacher seats are available but mats to sit on are welcome and recommended. Please arrive at 5:00 pm sharp to set up, get comfortable and prepare for a weekend memory you won't soon forget.
