About The Art of Ray Abeyta: "The Mayor of Williamsburg"

Opening and cocktail reception. Ray's art will be on display for the duration of the festival. FREE and open to all.

(b.1956) Ray Martin Abeyta was raised in the small northern New Mexico village of Santa Cruz. Having grown up on the outskirts of Espanola, the self-proclaimed "Lowrider Capital of the World," Abeyta's New Mexican roots, as well as his nostalgia, are evident in the vehicle he drives, a classic 1956 Ford F100 pickup. Since 1986, Abeyta has been creating masterful oil paintings in a baroque, Spanish Colonial style, which he infuses with contemporary subject matter and pop-cultural motifs that he derives from a variety of sources. Shown here are three works currently available, along with several pieces held in private and museum collections. - The Owings Gallery

Ray passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident in late 2014. He was a central member of the motorcycle community, and a friend. He is deeply missed, and we are honored to work with his family to exhibit his beautiful art at the 3rd annual MFF. Te Amo Baby.
