Tarras Band Album Release Concert

Tarras Band is a six-piece Klezmer ensemble dedicated to the music of Yiddish-American clarinetist Dave Tarras and the classic style of American Klezmer he pioneered. Driven by longtime Tarras accompanist Peter Sokolow on piano, the group also features Klezmer revivalists drummer Dave Licht (Klezmatics) and Jim Guttmann (Klezmer Conservatory Band). The powerful frontline horn section consists of younger klezmorim including Michael Winograd (clarinet), Ben Holmes (trumpet) and Dan Blacksberg (trombone). The group has a true cross-generational membership that creates a powerful intersection between tradition and innovation.

This Hannukah performance will celebrate the release of the group's second CD, Tarras Band Plays Again. In addition to works associated with Tarras, the group will perform selections from the repertoire of Naftule Brandwein and Sam Musiker as well as original material.
