Taraf de Loco

Taraf de Locos is a five-piece band based out of San Francisco, California. They play a wide range of music genres from all over the world, including music from countries like Albania, Turkey, Greece, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and more. The band was originally formed in 2013 by violinist/vocalist Aya Safiya, saxophonist/guitarist/vocalist Tano Brock, trumpeter/vocalist Cecilia Peña-Govea, and percussionist/vocalist Miguelito León. In 2014, a fifth member, bassist Mireya León joined. The four founding members grew up together at a music camp in the foothills near Fresno, CA, where they played music until the sun came up for ten days every summer. Their history as childhood friends creates a unique chemistry that comes out in their music.

Taraf de Locos recently released their self-titled debut album, which includes music from an array of cultures, representing their eclectic sound. The album features eight traditional songs from seven different countries, and two original compositions. After promoting the brand new album in the Bay Area for two months, the band is scheduled to tour the U.S. starting in mid-March. The tour will pass through major cities such as Phoenix, Santa Fe, Austin, Nashville, Boston, New York City, and New Orleans.
