About Steve Liesman & The Mooncussers
Steve Liesman and the Mooncussers is the passion project of CNBC's Senior Economics Reporter, who covers the economy, the Federal Reserve and the Treasury. The Mooncussers were a group of land-based pirates on Cape Cod who lit fires on the beach to beckon ships towards a reef and ruin. Steve first read about the Mooncussers in Henry David Thoreau's book Cape Cod and told himself when he was a teenager he would one day use it for the name of a band. The name otherwise lives in the form a of a sandwich in Truro, a tatoo parlor in Provincetown and a 1962 Disney movie.
The band's inspiration is jamming music of the 60s and the 70s, including the Grateful Dead, the Band, and CSN along with original music composed by Steve. All the songs, including the covers, are arranged originally. Nothing is sacred. The band includes Perry Winston and Josh Kates of Best Instrumental Rental, musical therapy professor Ken Aigen, High School Vice Principal Peter Carucci, and financial manager Ams Palmieiri. Thanks to Chuck for including us in the event.
