About Soul Clap Records Winter Residency featuring Midnight Magic, Michael The Lion & Amy Douglas, The Illustrious Blacks, Bamboozle

Soul Clap Records is blasting into 2018 with a three month winter residency at home in Brooklyn. Going down the first Friday of February, March and April at neighborhood establishment C’mon Everybody, the series is a chance for the Live side of the label to take center stage. Each month we shine a light on three artists from our musical family, celebrating new releases and lasting connections, while label boss Bamboozle aka Eli Soul Clap guides the turntables in different directions.

The residency kicks off February 2nd with New York disco phenomenon Midnight Magic, Funk Train connection Michael The Lion & Amy Douglas performing a special Live set and the fabulous stylings of The Illustrious Blacks.

March 2nd we celebrate the release of two new Soul Clap Records projects. A secret one we can’t announce until February and Detroit up and comer Pontchartrain will be launching his Citalmina EP. The icing on the cake is a rare live appearance by Modern Funk icons the Social Lovers.

April 6th goes out with a bang as we welcome eight piece Afro-Disco-Funk-Latin-Punk powerhouse Underground System to the label. Along with the first ever appearance of long time Soul Clap family FSQ’s new band, FSQ and The SQs featuring the one and only Dolette McDonald on vocals. To top it off we have longtime friend and collaborated Bosq joining Bamboozle on the wheels of steel.

2018 is a big year for Soul Clap Records with new EPs coming from Nona Hendryx, Ancient Deep, Pontchartrain and of course Soul Clap, albums lined up from Underground System and FSQ, the 5th edition of the Dancing On The Charles series a new compilation called Italo Funk and finally House On 45, a series of 45s of new house music from some of the guiding lights of Modern Funk and Electronic Music curated by Bamboozle. Come and join us on the mothership!

Midnight Magic is a cosmic disco ensemble with a desire to make you, the listener, and the rhythm, become one. Anchored by New York City underground dance music vets Morgan Wiley and W. Andrew Raposo, and powered by vocal temptress Tiffany Roth, the band's size matches their larger than life sound, ranging anywhere from four to nine people. The singles "Beam Me Up" and "Drop Me a Line", along with their star studded remix treatments, solidified Midnight Magic as an underground nightlife staple. 2012's 'Walking the Midnight Streets' marked the group's full length debut; an expansive record that introduced fans to a wider variety of the band's abilities. After touring in support of Holy Ghost and Cut Copy, the band returns with a new EP on Soul Clap Records this October.

Once upon a time in a galaxy not far away, there lived two kings. Each was the ruler of his own deliciously glorious planet. The first king, MANCHILDBLACK, was well known throughout the cosmos for his ethereal vocals, celestial sonics and earthy musical messages. The other king, MONSTAH BLACK, was a star in the solar system for his gravity defying performances, gender?bending fashions and spacey disposition. One magical night, an inexplicable ultra?magnetic pull forced the two planets to collide. A technicolored explosion occurred, turning night into day, with a feast of aural and visual delights. It was then that the universe was changed forever. Manchildblack and Monstah Black united and became THE ILLUSTRIOUS BLACKS!
