About #SaveSyria Benefit: Erin Willett / Bassel & The Supernaturals / Googie
Erin Willett is a singer/songwriter from Gaithersburg, Md. She was a semi-finalist on NBC???s hit show The Voice, and was one of the final two contestants on Blake Shelton???s team during season 2. Following the show, she released her self-titled debut EP which is available on iTunes. Erin has also opened for notable acts including Third Eye Blind and Adam Lambert. She continues to give back as an Ambassador of Hope for The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, an organization fighting the disease that took her fathers life in 2011. She hosted and coordinated a weekly live music night at Umami Burger Williamsburg. #BurgerJam aimed to bring a creative outlet for singers and songwriters in the Brooklyn community, in addition to providing locals with a free showcase to discover rising talent in the New York City area. In the fall of 2015 #BurgerJam went on a hiatus so Willett could compete in Season 17 of NBC???s The Biggest Loser. During the airing of the show yahoo.com exclusively premiered her new single ???Out of the Darkness??? chronicling her struggle with depression and self discovery. At the Live Finale Erin lost an astonishing 87 Pounds and the following day billboard.com exclusively premiered the music video for her single. She continues to strive to spread her hope and honesty on her weekly blog at www.erinwillett.com.
Bassel & The Supernaturals combines neo-soul and funk with captivating lyrics about love, loss, and a war in Syria that has affected Bassel Almadani???s family along with 10,000,000 others.
The soulful Syrian-American vocalist and his ensemble raised over $11,000 during the preorder campaign for their full-length album, Elements (2017), with over $3,000 in donations for humanitarian aid in Syria. They were also featured in the nationally-acclaimed SXSW showcase *ContraBanned: #MusicUnites* featuring artists from the diaspora of the countries targeted by the travel ban.
In addition to performing in clubs and festivals across the nation, Bassel partners with universities and charity organizations nationwide to host seminars, workshops, and benefit concerts drawing attention to the crisis in Syria.
Bassel Almadani doesn't want audiences to just have a good time getting down at shows. He wants fans to leave Bassel & the Supernaturals shows with a sense of connection and, perhaps, new political awareness. The bandleader of the contemplative indie-funk ensemble is first-generation Syrian-American and has been using the band's shows and releases to benefit humanitarian efforts in war-torn Syria." - Jessica Hopper
Born in Manhattan and raised in West New York, NJ, Googie is a genuine product of the East Coast. He is known for his quick, articulate delivery of witticisms and his ability to stand out on any production style. While reminiscent of classic rappers such as Redman and Big L, Googie brings his own unique flavor, drawing upon his experiences and the creative community around him. Part of the dynamic, Queens-based hip-hop crew, the Karma Kids, Googie stands out as a smooth, relatable emcee amongst the chaos. On his most recent project, ??????Tis What ???Tis,??? Googie carries his listener through his own personal journeys, elucidating his experiences as a kid from Jersey, a hungry emcee finding his voice, and a young adult traveling a city where he???s made his home. Featuring production from Blockhead, Headtrip, Samurai Banana, Red Dirt The Illusionist and more, as well as guest verses from Warren S. Britt, Premrock, and the Karma Kids, ??????Tis What ???Tis??? is a collection of carefully selected sounds and narratives that encompass Googie???s attitude and lifestyle.
