About Sam King
Sam King is an American singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist from New York City. His music is a dynamic mix of Folk, Soul, Pop and Americana interwoven with powerful vocal melodies and well crafted lyrics. Born in Germany and raised in New York, Sam spent a few years traveling and living in cities across the United States and Europe, evolving his unique style, before settling back to New York City in early 2013, playing every other week at the city’s most popular independent venue, Rockwood Music Hall. During his New York residency he has shared the stage with the likes of Rachel Platten, Ingrid Michaelson, A Great Big World, and The Kin, among others.
In late 2013, he released his debut EP, the "Dear Lucy Soundtrack” on iTunes and did his first international tour of Germany and Holland while continuing his residency at Rockwood Music Hall. After over a year of sold out shows in New York’s popular Lower East Side, Sam moved to Berlin in Summer 2014 to spend more time writing, touring, and recording in Europe. Both his move to Berlin and second EP, “All I Need” were funded by $10k in contributions from fans around the world. “All I Need” was released in February 2015.
In April 2015, Sam closed the first 6 month season of his biweekly concert series in Berlin, “An Evening With Sam King” at Prachtwerk Berlin. Each concert featured a collaborative performance with a new local guest artist during which Sam would learn and perform his guests’ songs live in front of the audience. In June of last year, Sam took his show to New York for three nights at Rockwood Music Hall featuring three of New York’s best artists. The second season of the “Evening With” series began in September 2015 featuring new guests artists and a brand new house band.
Sam’s voice has been featured national TV ads in America and his music can be heard on internet radio stations around the US and Europe.
Since 2015 Sam is exclusively signed with BMG Rights Management. He lives and works in Berlin.
