About Sam King
After a successful 6 month concert series in Berlin, Sam returns to NYC for three special nights of live music featuring three of the best artists New York City has to offer. Each night will feature a new musical guest who will join Sam on stage to share songs, stories, and even perform a collaborative set where Sam will learn his guests’ music live in front of the audience. Performances are always original, always live, and never staged.
Sam King is an American singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist from New York City. His music is a dynamic mix of Indie, Soul, and Americana interwoven with powerful vocal melodies and well crafted lyrics. In late 2013, he released his debut EP, the "Dear Lucy Soundtrack” on iTunes and did his first tour of Germany and Holland.
Born in Germany and raised in New York, Sam is no stranger to moving around. After two years of music school in Philadelphia, Sam spent a few years traveling and living in different cities across the United States and Europe. In early 2013, he settled back into New York City life playing every other week at the city’s most popular independent venue, Rockwood Music Hall. This musical residency lasted for just over a year and was only briefly interrupted when Sam was invited to go on tour in Europe in Autumn 2013 right before the official release of his debut record.
With over a year of sold out shows in NYC, thousands of downloads, and an international tour under his belt, Sam is embarking on the next chapter of his career. In Summer, 2014, Sam moved to Berlin to spend a year writing, recording, and touring in Europe. A large part of the trip is being funded by over $10,000 worth of donations from fans around the globe.
In November 2014, Sam started a biweekly concert series in Berlin called "An Evening With Sam King.” For 6 months, Sam took over a stunning acoustic venue called Prachtwerk Berlin every other Thursday for a night of live music and collaboration. Each concert featured a new local guest artist who joined Sam on stage to share songs and stories. The regularly packed show featured an opening set in which learned his guest's songs live in front of the audience. These performances were never staged and always engaged both musicians and audience. Sam regularly finished the concert sitting in the middle of the audience, with everyone in the room singing and clapping along and asking for more. The final show of the season, on April 16th, featured 9 of his previous 11 guests all on stage at the same. 10 artists will shared the stage, traded songs, and even took a round to each perform a surprise cover of one of the other artist’s songs. Sam is slotted to begin the second 6 month season of "An Evening With" featuring his brand new house band and all new guest artists in September 2015.
Sam's second record, the All I Need EP was released digitally on February 14th 2015 and Sam celebrated by playing release parties to packed audiences in NYC and Berlin. He's still based in Berlin and continuing to tour and write material for his next full length record while promoting both the Dear Lucy Soundtrack and All I Need EP across Europe.
