Robert James is one of a new breed of artists that hail from the city of Leeds, the UK's second key stronghold of underground house and techno outside the Capital. While he made his name DJing around the city and in Ibiza his career is set to explode exponentially this summer once his debut release 'Sleep Moods' drops on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss' new Hot Creations label. His sound is completely unique, born from a strong sense of groove born from summers spent on the dance floor at DC10 in Ibiza and a healthy ambition to turn house music on its head. He effortlessly creates music aimed squarely at the dance floor that is distinct, infectious and appeals as much to the head and the heart as it does the feet. For the last two years Rob has been regular fixture at clubs like The Mint Club and My House in Leeds, the Zoo Project and Space in Ibiza and the Rainbow in Birmingham but once his debut release on Hot Natured drops his diary is set to explode with incoming bookings from as far afield as Moscow and the US. These Gigs and others have seen him play alongside the likes of Carl Cox, Jamie Jones, Layo and Bushwacka, Clive Henry and Dyed Soundorom to name a few. 2010 is set to be a big year for Robert James... get used to the name as you'll be hearing it a lot more over the coming months.
