About Rioux, Dadras

Erin Rioux (pronounced ree-yoo) is an electronic psychedelic record producer, vocalist, and curator based in Brooklyn, NY. His work under his last name merges organic instrumentation with technology in a rhythmic and cerebral sonic environment.

Rioux grew up in metro Detroit and moved to New York City in 2008 at age 18. Since then he has launched his own multimedia label/event series, Connect, and worked with a wide array of collaborators ranging from Arca to National Geographic astrophysicist Stephon Alexander. Alexander and Rioux are scheduled to release their collaborative LP, Here Comes Now, summer of 2014 on Connect, which they debuted live at Low End Theory in Los Angeles in November 2013.

Rioux began 2014 with a string of monthly singles premiering on XLR8R. The shadowy, surreal "Trails," and the transcendent "Maze1" draw from David Lynch films, exploring the space between darkness and light. In April, four tracks will culminate in the EP 'System Preferences,' setting the bar for a prolific year. Locally, Rioux recently played shows with Broods [Capitol/Polydor] and Jungle [XL Records].

2013 saw Rioux play a string of SXSW dates and curate eight Connect showcases at underground Brooklyn venues––namely 285 Kent––in collaboration with manager Brandon Sanchez. In addition to two EP releases, Rioux featured a work of visual art at the Venice Biennial alongside David Byrne and Laurie Anderson in the group show, ORGANIX, curated by Diego Cortez (Warhol, Basquiat).
