About Rick Derringer

Rocker Rick Derringer ("Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo")

If it seems like rock guitar hero Rick Derringer's been around a long time, it's because he had his first hit single, "Hang On Sloopy," 50 years ago as a teenager with his band The McCoys. He then hooked up with the iconic Edgar Winter, writing, playing on and producing many of the rocker's best albums. But Derringer's first solo release, "All-American Boy", featured his next No. 1 chart-topper, the all-time classic "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo." Since then, he's backed some of the biggest names in the biz, delved into the blues and smooth jazz and toured with the popular "Hippiefest" concert experience. He's now on a Golden Anniversary tour that's making a stop at B.B. King's in New York.
