About Raye EP Release with Natalie York

Raye is a singer-songwriter from Manhattan, New York. Raye has played at venues all over the United States, including: The House of Blues, The Bitter End, The Viper Room, The Bardot, The Hard Rock Cafe, Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene's Grocery, Webster Hall and The Knitting Factory. Raye wrote a song for a Nickelodeon pilot and had her music featured in two feature films; one of which was one of the "Top Ten Movies to See" at The Los Angeles Film Festival. She was a headlining artist at The 2013 LA Skins Music Festival and was a featured artist with FXConnectx Sound Systems at both NAMM 2013 and Summer NAMM 2013 in Nashville. In Nashville, Raye was interviewed by and featured on the websites of Premier Guitar Magazine, Guitar World Magazine and Epiphone. Raye is a proud Pima Native American and made the list of "Top Native American Music of 2013." Raye now resides in New York where she frequents the stages of The Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall. Her poetic lyrics and soothing and sometimes haunting melodies, have gotten her compared to artists such as Natalie Merchant, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektar, and Norah Jones.

Washington-born and Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Natalie York is a force to be reckoned with. The Washington Post has called her debut "one of the best local releases of 2010," and praised her "soulful and warm vocals" and "sophisticated palette." Natalie has earned favorable comparisons to Grace Potter, Norah Jones, and Bonnie Raitt. She studied jazz at the University of Miami, and was the first graduate from the distinguished institution's Bruce Hornsby Creative American Music Program.

York has garnered accolades for her quiet-fire aesthetic, a mix of contemporary folk and simmering Stax soul. But, for her sophomore record, she decided to do something bold – Natalie decided to make a rock record filtered through her distinct Americana vision. In addition to press plaudits and academic accomplisments, Natalie has established a highly credible artist profile through performing and working with such diverse talents as Jonny Lang, Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Colvin, Lamont Dozier, Jim Lauderdale, Jon Secada, and Phil Ramone.

"This is great. Every song! Very soulful, loose, affecting vocals. Natalie has an alluring Macy Gray-esque husky quality, with interesting phrasing that keeps it ever interesting. Clever, quirky lyrics. Nice, dynamic arrangements and great production. This is a quantum leap forward for her, and I'm really impressed and proud of her. Fantastic job." -Bruce Hornsby on Natalie's most recent release, 'Promises
