About Raven

According to the pages of the various metal media, 'labels of "LEGENDARY," "INNOVATIVE," "TRUE ORIGINALS," as well as "F**K!ING CRAZY!!" have been rightfully pinned upon RAVEN over the years. In a music scene filled with clones nurtured by labels with a cookie-cutter mentality, the unique personality of the three band members has always shone through...from the well documented early days as NWOBHM (new wave of British heavy metal) frontrunners, during the trailblazing USA tours of the 80's giving such folk as Metallica & Anthrax their first tours, through the doldrums of the late 80's/early 90's when a grunge obssessed media wrote off so many acts -- RAVEN has consistently proved to be both unparalleled survivors and in a genre of grim imitation - shown that they are "the real thing". In 2001 the "godfathers of power metal" released the album "ONE FOR ALL," produced by Michael Wagener who was at the board for the band's 1999 album "ALL FOR ONE." In true RAVEN tradition, "ONE FOR ALL" covered the gamut from anthemic rockers to brutal heavy metal, as well as covering new ground in rifforama and then some!!
Following Mark Gallagher's long recuperation from a serious accident
in 2001, the band finally hit the boards in 2004 & 2005 on the festival trail,
playing the UK Bloodstock festival, the German Keep It True & in 2006
The German Bang Your Head festival – 2007 & 2008 was spent working on new music & more festivals - finally with the completion of the ultimate Raven album "WALK THROUGH FIRE"in 2010, Raven have been hard at work touring the globe – reaquainting themseleves with old friends and venturing to new frontiers – South America has been well bitten by the Raven bug!!
2013 brought the release of the "holy grail" for Raven fans – the DVD retrospective tour de force "ROCK UNTIL YOU DROP – A LONG DAY'S JOURNEY" covering their entire career with never before seen footage of live shows, studio/backstage craziness and many interviews with the band & their peers…The bank embarked upon their largest ever USA tour halfway through joining forces with fellow Brit rockers Diamond Head then off to Europe with Girlschool as openers.
2014 has started with a bang for RAVEN..the 70000 tons of metal cruise and a slew of Brazilian gigs including an Sao Paulo stadium gig opening for old friends Metallica in front of 61,000 rabid metal fans!!
Raven are set to reclaim the title that is rightfully theirs – power metal lunatics par excellence!!

From the well documented early days as NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) frontrunners, RAVEN's albums ROCK UNTIL YOU DROP, WIPED OUT and ALL FOR ONE virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres - during the trailblazing USA tours of the 80's introducing the States to "Athletic rock" as well as giving opening acts like Metallica and Anthrax their first tours, through the doldrums of the late 80's/early 90's when a grunge obsessed media wrote off so many acts - RAVEN has consistently proved to be both survivors par excellence and in a genre of grim imitation - shown that they are "the real thing". Where so many of their contemporaries have either faded creatively or become parodies of themselves, RAVEN have consistently pushed the envelope while retaining their unique sound and attack – both in the studio & in their true element, onstage!

Following a forced layoff through half of the last decade due to Mark Gallagher's long recuperation from a serious accident where Mark's legs were crushed after a wall collapsed on the musician, the band have fought back with a number of European festival appearances, a UK tour in 2008 and a triumphant jaunt to Japan in 2009.

In 2010, the band unleashed the best album they've done in many years, "Walk Through Fire" – quite simply, was the real deal – the right songs, the right sound and the right feel – that was guaranteed to rip yer head off!

Raven are here to finally set to reclaim the title that is rightfully theirs – "the wildest band in the fuckin' world!"
