About PUNDERDOME®

PUNDERDOME® is New York City’s wild & crazy monthly pun competition created by comedian Jo Firestone and her “Rodney Dangerfield impersonator” alleged dad, Fred. The alleged dad will be hosting tonight! Part of New York’s comedy landscape since 2011, the Punderdome® has been a regular fixture at Littlefield since 2012. Twelve individuals/duos who sign-up at the door (opens at 7:00) will have a chance to participate in competitive spontaneous pun-making. (Preference given to first-time compuntitors who have previously attended a 'Dome and seasoned winners!) Pun-masters will, of course, be determined by the “Human Clap-O-Meter” who “accurately and scientifically” assesses levels of audience applause. “Mystery Box” prizes will be awarded to the top two competitors. Warning for the faint of heart: the ’Dome is THE spectator sport, it gets loud – decide to attend at your own risk!

The New York Times referred to the Punderdome® as the “hilarious cult-favorite pun competition” and said it was “both an endearingly homemade and impressively high-caliber show during which astute wordsmiths (including a crew of beloved regular punsters) spin clever and very funny puns to a packed house.” GQ Magazine shouted the Punderdome® as one of the “5 Funniest Nights in America,” (http://bit.ly/1Ib9JHo) and quoted comedian Chris Gethard on why it’s great: “The crowd. You’d think you were at the Roman Colosseum. They’re passionate, to a level that feels dangerous. And to reiterate, this is a pun competition.”

Reviews:

· “The lowly pun has long been considered the bottom-feeding bristle worm of the comedy world ….. That has changed with the arrival of Punderdome, a now monthly event that has turned punning into a high-functioning competition that is equal parts stand-up, beat poetry ….” - The New York Post

· “Can you imagine a more potent cure for the weekday blues? Here was concentrated, unabashed silliness that I longed to bottle and smuggle out in my purse.” - The New Yorker

· “The 5 Best Things To Do In NYC Tonight” - CBS New York
