Irreverent Musical Comedy: "Popesical"

Now that Pope Francis has returned to Rome after his successful U.S. visit and is safely ensconced within the walls of the Vatican, it seems safe to enjoy the profane musical comedy that is "Popesical". The Soho Playhouse, the historic Off-Broadway venue that's played host to hundreds of productions since 1920, stages this irreverent show that holds nothing sacred. It seems the pope has passed, and the cardinals have gathered in the Sistine Chapel to compete in a series of secretive "papal challenges" to win the job. Along the way there's forbidden love and lots of song and dance, provided by the producers of "Silence! The Musical".
