About PILL, Honduras, Bambara, Gingerlys

PILL is an expression of contempt for rock formalism, yet still within the "rules" of rock. Painterly abstraction in 4/4 time---Narratives of the realities of inequality. PILL is in an open relationship with Expressionism, and purity reigns, making a person feel enthusiastically empathetic to a woman without overtly telling them how and why to be a feminist.

Friends since childhood, Patrick Phillips (vocals/guitar) and Tyson Moore (lead guitar) found each other again in a Bushwick basement where they began writing much of what would become Honduras' early material. Inspired by late 70's punk, but mixing in aspects of garage and indie that followed, Honduras played Brooklyn's DIY venue scene tirelessly and garnered a reputation for amazing live performances, with comparisons to bands like Sex Pistols and Buzzcocks. After bringing in Josh Wehle to play drums they added a new bass player in Paul Lizarraga (the Denzels) to round out the band's signature polished edge. Their more recent writing has included elements of krautrock and psych to their already energetic tracks for an intellectually developed and interesting sound. While picking up additional attention from serious tastemakers like Rolling Stone, NME, Noisey, Impose, and Nylon along the way, the group has shared stages like Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg with notable acts like Blur, Metz, Fidlar, Twin Peaks, Drowners and the Kaiser Chiefs. The first single from their upcoming debut LP, Paralyzed, is currently in regular rotation on Sirius Radio XMU and the band was just featured in NME's On The Radar section. On stage the formula continues, where four good friends exhibit a savvy devil-may-care tightness. Their engaging stage presence is both apropos to their influences and forever exciting to witness in a young and surging project. Their upcoming debut LP is called Rituals, and will be released in Early 2016.

"Seeing a Bambara set live is sorta like getting trapped in a long, dark corridor with the vague sensation that you are being followed by the thing that terrifies you most … so long as what you're scared of is experimental indie bands with a tendency to be mellow very loudly." - Weekly Dig Boston

Guitarist Matt Richards began sharing acoustic demos of his strummy pop songs to his fellow bandmates and the group began formulating Matt's songs together in his NY basement. Vocalist and keyboardist Maria Garnica brought life to the rough demos with her melody laden hooks and dreamy vocals. Colin O'Neill provided vibrant guitar riffs and Kevin Doxsey was behind the kit and on bass and drummer Brian Alvarez joined later that summer. After self-releasing the songs as digital singles, the band signed to Shelflife Records and will be releasing the material on their debut 7" Jumprope.
