Pell

Born in New Orleans, Pell was uprooted to Starkville, Mississippi by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 at the age of 15. Like many others in NOLA, Katrina decimated the neighborhood where Pell and his family lived, and as a result they were forced to relocate. "All I was able to take with me from New Orleans was the musical culture I grew up in, not my possessions, only memories and life lessons."

"Creating a new life from scratch teaches you resilience," adds Pell. And he's used his determination to pursue a music career. In high school, Pell created beats for his friends using a beat box that his dad gave him. Pell used those skills to help produce tracks on his first 2010 mixtape, "That Feel Good." It was that year that he also formed the collective That Feel Good (TFG), with some friends.

In 2012, Pell released his first collection of songs digitally as a free album titled The Wild. Shortly after, Pell released a single titled "The Actress" featuring TFG-affiliate Sir Flywalker. The song, an ode to college party life, amassed over 25,000 SoundCloud plays, leading to coverage in the Jackson Free Press, and music outlets such as YouHeardThatNew and NME. In addition, Pell started to open shows for artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, Joey Badass, Waka Flocka, and Casey Veggies.

Also last year, Pell released Calphonic, a free album hosted by DJ Wally Sparks that introduced the world to his laid-back attitude, ambient instrumentals, and nodding melodies. Riding the Calphonic wave into 2013, Pell is currently on the road on the Calphonic Tour featuring other members of TFG. In March of 2013, electro-pop duo Cherub released their highly anticipated 100 Bottles EP featuring Pell on the single 'Drowzzzy.' The momentum continued as Pell launched a video release for 'The Wild,' a track featured on Calphonic, marking his first single available via iTunes. The video premiered via RESPECT. Magazine and was also featured by Vibe and YouHeardThatNew.
