About PB Presents: Motion Theatre, Time and Distance, Dreamt, and Ghost Cop
Hailing from the mountains of Southern West Virginia, Motion Theatre stands out as a group of 5 individuals who have a lot to say about the grandeur that exists inside themselves and around them. With their upbeat guitar melodies intertwined with nostalgia-driven ambiance, they attempt to provide musically what they themselves are searching for… authenticity.
Formed in 2010 from the ashes of two other bands, they released an EP (The Relative Minor) the following year. Following an immediate local groundswell of support, Motion Theatre was ready to branch out and play to whomever was willing to listen. Sharing countless stages with bands of all genres, the band sought to understand more about which direction they really wanted to follow and allowed for influence from all walks of music.
During the Summer of 2012 the band wrapped recording their brand new, entirely self-funded album "The Convalescing" at Earthsound Recording with Lee Dyess (From First To Last, Mayday Parade, Go Radio) in Valdosta, GA.
With breakout singles like "Eleven/Eleven" and "Devils" and sweeping epics like "Still Alive" and "Sail Away", Greg Lilly and Motion Theatre have left no stone unturned in their quest for a sound of their own, with sensibility everyone can enjoy.
Time and Distance are a Rock band from Charleston, West Virginia, started around 2002. To date, we've released two full length albums, two ep's, toured the country countless times with bands big and small, signed to a couple different record labels, put like 200,000 miles on our van, and made a lot of friends. we also really like mexican food.
Dreamt formed in Ithaca, NY around October 2012. It began as a solo recording project in early 2011 when Aidan Boardman and Jason Staniulis recorded the a 4 song self-titled EP. Since then, Aidan has continued to write songs and perform them with a number of different musicians, including Pete Swegart, Greg and Isaac Boardman, Chris Demetriou, Terence Marciano, Joe D'esposito, James Rose, Jordan Morton, and Greg Evans.
The band usually performs as five- or six-piece ensemble, and has made steady progress with the now solid core of personnel. We hope you enjoy our music; thank you for taking the time to read this short biography.
GHOST COP thinks the dystopia of our celluloid past is upon us. They find clanging resonances in the alleys of the mind. They want to hang out with Egyptian Lover and his 808. They've internalized the fiction of William Gibson. They appreciate lesser-loved 80's drum machines. They are proponents of hardware-based digital synthesis. They enjoy a good light show.
GHOST COP is Lucy Swope (vocals, synthesizers and vocoder) and Sean Dack aka Pixelife (production, synthesizers and drum machines). The lead single "Cold" will be followed by a digital and vinyl EP later this summer engineered and produced by Abe Seiferth (Tippy Toes, producer for: Yeasayer, DFA, Reggie Watts and more).
"Cold," is simultaneously upbeat and downcast, imagining a projected future that seems more possible with every passing day. The track is danceable without falling for trendy conventions of present day or retro ideas of synth based music. It is music for possible fictions and potential geopolitical scenarios.
