About Patrick Mangan

PATRICK MANGAN is one of the most accomplished fiddle players in Irish music today. Growing up in Brooklyn, Patrick studied with Brian Conway, one of the world’s finest exponents of the New York-Sligo style, and was mentored by the late great fiddle legends Andy McGann and Paddy Reynolds. Since 2006, the two-time All-Ireland champion has toured the globe as the fiddle soloist with Riverdance, and has also performed and recorded with such luminaries of Irish music as Moya Brennan, John Doyle, Ashley Davis, Cathie Ryan, John Whelan, and many more.

JUNE 3 at Rockwood Music Hall marks the official release of Patrick's highly anticipated second album “DEPARTURES,” which is comprised entirely of his own compositions. He is recognized for his original music, having received first prize honors in the BMG-sponsored “World of Expression” competition for his piece, “September Sky,” which is included on the album. “Departures” breaks new ground in contemporary Irish music, incorporating global influences from Patrick’s extensive travels, and features an incredible cast of guest musicians – with instrumentation ranging from guitar and harp, to cello and tabla.
