About Output Fifth Anniversary | Seth Troxler/ Craig Richards/ DeWalta/ Amir Javasoul/ Francis Harris/ Nicolas Matar/ David Paglia at Output

In accordance with Mayan prophecy, Seth Troxler was, in fact, a gift to Detroit techno from intergalactic house demigods from the future. Rumours that Seth Troxler is actually an alien are untrue; in the early first century these demigods kidnapped the virile first-born child of a Roman centurion and his Egyptian trophy wife. After years of travelling around the western end of the Milky Way studying linear algebra, Byronic verse, city planning, and the essentials of electronic music composition, these demigods lost young Seth to the Old God Horus in a game of trans-dimensional poker. Before Horus could consume his soul, disguised as Freemasons, they managed steal the young Seth back, and fearing the wrath of Horus, hid him in the Mid-Western town of Kalamazoo where he was raised by a kindly family of Amish.

Since then Seth has gone on to ignite the world of house and techno with a constant barrage of vocal jams, been voted Number Three best DJ in the world in the Resident Advisor Top 100 DJ Poll (beaten only by Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin), landed a much vaunted residency at DC10 in Ibiza and been invited by Pete Tong to deliver an Essential Mix for BBC Radio One. He has played many outstanding international gigs, notably fabric (London), Panorama Bar and Watergate (Berlin), Womb (Tokyo), Tenax (Florence), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), The Rex (Paris), Fuse (Brussels), Avalon (LA), The End Up (San Fransisco) plus The Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Mutek. In the studio he has collaborated with such dance luminaries as Matthew Dear, Art Department, Tiefschwarz, Deetron, Masemenos and dOP, in addition to groundbreaking remix work done as Visionquest alongside fellow astral refugees Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss. Together their Visionquest project has spawned the most exciting new record label in dance music today, plus a four deck DJ spectacular that will see the four of them tour the world reminding people how lucky they are to be human.

Troxler is currently in Berlin, where he began his self-imposed exile from the United States after sleeping with then-Senator Barak Obama’s wife. Seth will remain in Europe until his 33rd birthday, at which point he will descend upon the Levant and battle his way westward as he reclaims his kingdom. At least that’s what some dude at Burning Man told us.

Born in 1966 in Bournemouth. In 1993, somewhat disillusioned with life after art school he began organising one off parties and then subsequently promoting specific nights in existing nightclubs.
Tech-house DJ, resident and musical director at London club Fabric.
Alongside Lee Burridge, and initially Sasha, he is part of Tyrant.

He has run a few labels through the years, namely Tyrant, Fist Or Finger (with Jozif) and The Nothing Special.

Deeply entrenched in the collaborative nature of the European electronic music scene, David Koch still feels the echoes of the formative years he spent sneaking into jazz bars underage to jam on his saxophone with fellow musicians. With years of professional training and creative experience behind him, his output as DeWalta applies his considerable skills to the punch and funk of the dancefloor.

From his own Meander label to Cynosure, Vakant, Kalk Pets and Haunt, David's warm and playful productions have reached ears the world over, helped in no small part by appearances on compilations by Seth Troxler and Cassy. With his instrumental talents also loaned to the likes of Deadbeat, The Mole and
Dave Turov, and his engineering skills coming to bear on the music of Tolga Fidan amongst others, over the past five years David has created a strong identity for himself in the crowded European house and techno scene.

If it takes fifteen years to make an overnight hit, then Nicolas Matar has truly come of age. The story of house music has run from the New York underground via Ibiza to London and back around again many times over the past fifteen years – and as the chapters have unfolded, our man has been there to turn the page.

Nicolas has been DJing since the tender age of 15. He got an early head-start from his father, an original member of Studio 54 and a denizen of the 70?s New York club scene. “Dad was a hobbyist DJ and had an incredible collection of Disco, Funk and Soul records,” says Nicolas. “I grew up with a mini club in my basement. My parents used it to entertain their friends with my Dad behind the decks.

Nicolas’ musical style is very diverse, encompassing everything from Deep House, Soulful House, Nu-Jazz, Techno to Disco Classics. Like most globetrotting DJs, Nicolas spins regularly in the US, UK, Spain, Brazil, France, Mexico, Peru, Netherlands, Italy, Estonia, Greece, Finland, Canada, Singapore, Belgium, Korea, Hong Kong, Turkey, Japan, Indonesia and Switzerland. It is perhaps his greatest accolade that from 1993-2001, Nicolas was the resident DJ of the world-renowned Pacha in Ibiza. Nicolas credits those years during the golden era of House Music at Pacha as the inspiration for his eventual return to New York to build Cielo.

Nicolas opened Cielo in New York eight years ago. It was awarded an unparalleled 10 awards in its first five years and has become a reputable brand worldwide. In addition to being the co-owner/resident DJ, Nicolas handles all music programming and marketing at Cielo. Roger Sanchez, Francois K., Carl Cox, Louie Vega, Tedd Patterson, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Danny Tenaglia, and Frankie Knuckles are just a few of the Djs who play alongside Nicolas at Cielo on a regular basis.

Cielo just released its much-anticipated seventh compilation, Paradizo 2 to much acclaim mixed by Nicolas and fellow Cielo resident, Willie Graff. Cielo’s first compilation, Cloud 9, and its following compilations were a great success worldwide and amongst the best selling CDs in Ibiza during the summer. Nicolas has also mixed three other highly acclaimed DJ compilations: “Latitude 40?, and “Sundance” for the Journeys By DJ Label in the UK, and “Tropicalism”, for Razor and Tie in the US.
