About Outer Stylie, Added Color, Vajra
Outer Stylie is a rock band located in the creative vortex that is the Pioneer Valley of Western, Massachusetts. Although the name originates with the release of their self titled album in 2008, the band really came to fruition in 2014 around the current line-up. Up until this point the band really searched for their sound. This is evident through many line-up changes and the vast difference in sound between albums. Their search equates to evolution, and their new album, Puzzles, scheduled for release Saturday, April 16th at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA, fully exemplifies the uniqueness of their sound, equal parts hard rock, psychedelic, groove, and soul.
Outer Stylie's presence in the Western Mass music scene is undeniable, having regularly packed the areas best clubs, as well as directly supporting nationally touring acts such as, Kung Fu, Turkuaz, and Consider the Source at Pearl Street Nightclub. However since 2014 they have picked up much more steam regionally, gigging and gaining fans all over the Northeast including Boston and NYC. Much of their success has come through the festival circuit of the Northeast including their hometown festival, Strangecreek/Wormtown, where they've been known to draw some of the largest crowds of the weekend. The main attraction to Stylie at festivals is that they sound vastly different than the rest of a given line-up. Focusing heavily on the song and improvising a few times throughout the set instead of every song, has made their live sets energetic, honest, and thrilling while still holding true to great songwriting. These guys bleed rock n roll and when you see them on stage performing, it is impossible to deny this.
ADDED COLOR is a Brazilian/American rock band formed in Brooklyn, NY and is comprised of brothers Daniel and Kiko Freiberg (S??o Paulo), Tim Haggerty (Boston), and Danny Dahan (Washington DC). Added Color has played close to 200 shows in over 20 states in the USA, and toured internationally playing a mini-tour in Canada, a two week tour in Morocco and major festivals in Brazil such as Por??o do Rock, which has featured Muse, Eagles of Death Metal, among others. The Monsters of Rock Festival officially nominated them as one of five of Brazil???s upcoming rock bands. The band has received critical praise from PureVolume, Red Bull Music, The Huffington Post, AOL Noisecreep, and was chosen as a "must see show" by The Village Voice. The band's latest release, "Psycho", was called "the best rock track of the year" by Pancakes and Whiskey.
With messages geared towards embracing individuality, self-acceptance, and standing up for those around you, Added Color is always relatable and hard to ignore, standing in solidarity with anyone who is looking for a place in the world for their true selves.
???It???s time to get to know Vajra??? according to Loudwire Magazine. Dubbed a ???Must-See Act??? by Rolling Stone Magazine and one of the ???Most underrated bands??? by AXS Magazine, Vajra uniquely blends hauntingly dark and hypnotic melodic, progressive rock with Eastern Indian themes into foreboding and mysterious lullabies.
According to AXS, "Vajra is really something special and have managed come up with a completely new sound of metal. They bring mystical, moody and haunting melodies to the stage that are completely entrancing. Lead singer Annamaria Pinna???s voice and presence was captivating."
???Their live show is like a cathartic punch in the face??? says Creem Magazine, and the band was accordingly selected to perform at the Loudwire Music Festival 2015 and Rock-fest 2016, Texas Showdown Festival, CMJ and SXSW.
Vajra???s DIY videos for three of their singles - The Mirror, Inside The Flame (Rapid Oxidation Mix) and 3.14 (Water Mix) - were featured on the Loudwire Top 10 Rock & Metal Video Countdown. Both "Inside The Flame" and "3.14 (Water Mix)" were on the Countdown for a combined total of 24 weeks and were subsequently retired as the longest tenured videos on the Countdown. The band also was #1 of the Reverbnation Alternative Rock Music Chart for NYC for 10 consecutive weeks and one of their singles was #37 on the Under The Radar Chart. Vajra???s music will leave you spell-bound.
Vajra was formed by Annamaria Pinna during her self-imposed exile in India. The child of a former monk and school teacher, Annamaria was encouraged to learn about the world around her and to question her assumptions. She believes there is divinity in creativity. Annamaria has a neurological condition called synesthesia, where she attaches color and shapes to sound.
Vajra???s music is hauntingly dark and hypnotic-- weaving Eastern Indian themes with melodic, progressive rock-- creating foreboding and mysterious lullabies. Their debut album ???Pleroma??? was released on the Summer Solstice, 2012 (6.21.12).
Pleroma is an exploration in paradox (east vs. west, soft vs. pummelling, female vs. male) and includes Blake Fleming (ex-The Mars Volta) on drums. Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of A Down, Prince, Johnny Cash) co-produced the vocals and mixed. Tom Baker (NIN, Foo Fighters, Ministry, Prince) mastered.
