Their name is taken from a Michael Paterniti story from the June 2009 edition of Esquire. But the music of One-Eleven Heavy draws from a much deeper narrative, recalling the joyful, altered reminiscence of the first wave of Cosmic American Music. The transatlantic quintet of Dan Brown, Hans Chew, Ryan Jewell, Nick Mitchell and James Jackson Toth brings a collective history of almost 100 years of traveling band living. You know their pasts. Royal Trux, Wooden Wand and Ryley Walker, to name a few. Together, though, they zero in on a singular, down-home musical dialect that's as deeply indebted to extended telepathy of the Grateful Dead and harmonic revery of the Flying Burrito Brothers as it is to their own individual histories.
