NY Philharmonic: Gilbert Conducts All-Mozart

In the classic film "Amadeus", Salieri first encounters Mozart at a performance of his Serenade No. 10 for winds, or "Gran partita", an experience which the imperial Kapellmeister describes as "hearing the voice of God." Experience this masterwork, along with a program of all Mozart pieces, as maestro Alan Gilbert conducts the New York Philharmonic at David Geffen Hall. The evening kicks off with Divertimento in D major (Salzburg Symphony No. 1), a piece written expressly for enjoyment, by a genius who's famous for knowing how to have a good time. Then principal horn Philip Myers takes the stage for the Second Horn Concerto. With its hunting horns finale, the piece was written to showcase the instrument's nobility and lyricism.
