About Nuyorican Poets Cafe featuring Elaine Del Valle’s Brownsville Bred
Brownsville Bred
Brownsville Bred, written, performed and lived by Elaine Del Valle won several NYC awards and festivals before being successfully produced at The Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe. It’s first AEA Regional production was at Westchester’s Schoolhouse Theater where it was directed by Pamela Moller Kareman. “I’m taking this off Broadway,” said Kareman bringing together a team of producers who were inspired by the play as much as she was. Simon McLean, Quinn Cassavale of Theater 808 and The Schoolhouse Theater brought Brownsville Bred to its Off Broadway Premiere at the prestigious 59E59 Theaters in the summer of 2011. Brownsville Bred played to sold out houses and received rave reviews, and continues to be performed at Colleges, High School and Special Events.
