About New York Yiddish Music Festival

YIDDISH NEW YORK (YNY) is a brand new festival celebrating Jewish music and culture. After a week of workshops, lectures and more, YNY will move from the classroom to the nightclub featuring favorites of NYC’s eclectic Yiddish scene including The Klez Dispensers, Pitom, and Frank London’s Klezmer Brass All-Stars.

Also appearing at the blowout will be an assemblage of today’s finest Yiddish performers, many whom are on YNY faculty, including Dan Kahn, Zhenya Lapotnik, Sarah Gordon, Socalled, Sasha Lurje, Joanne Borts, Psoy Korolenko, Eleanore Reissa and more!

A full force of creativity, The Klez Dispensers are fresh and daring and have been dishing up their signature state-of-the-art, swinging American-style klezmer music since 1998. Audiences can’t get enough of their impeccable arrangements, inspiring improvisations, and engaging repertoire from the early years of klezmer, as well as exciting original compositions. With Alex Kontorovich (clarinet,) Ben Holmes (trumpet,) Amy Zakar (violin,) Audrey Welber (saxophone,) Susan Watts (vocals & trumpet,) Adrian Banner (piano.)
